I survived six years of chronic pain and chronic illnesses and not only healed myself but I am now happier and healthier than I ever remember being. I do not believe disease is all in anyone’s head because my pain was as real as it gets!

I do believe that if you do not confront and process emotional traumas and stress that your body will manifest disease to tell you that something is wrong. There are mind/body methods you can use to heal yourself from physical ailments.

I had been told by doctors that with all my chronic illnesses the best I could hope for was to “manage my pain with prescription medication”. I was told my pain and quality of life would only worsen. After seeing The Secret I knew I had to learn all I could about the Law of Attraction and the mind/body connection so that I could HEAL myself.

I immersed myself in materials all day and even at night (audio books) and adopted the PAGING ME Method to heal myself and remain healthy. The Law of Attraction rang true to me because when I looked back at my life and the “bad times” I could clearly see events that led up to them and why and how things went the way they did.

Great, so recognizing and knowing these things while ringing true also made me pretty sad and angry at myself. You mean I could have healed myself six years ago and not had 100 tests, hours in doctor offices, not to mention the amount of suffering I did and occasions I missed celebrating with family and friends?

Self-forgiveness was one of the first tools I used to heal. I needed to PARDON myself, situations and other people from the anger that I had held onto for so long.

Being in pain it became easy and a habit to wake up every day and pay attention to whatever body parts were hurting. Instead I had to shift my attention to the one part of me that didn’t hurt.

Even if it was my little finger that is where my whole conscious mind went as I said repeatedly in my mind “I am so happy and grateful I am so healthy – I know how good my finger feels and that means my whole body is healthy”. Shifting the ATTENTION to what was working and feeling good and away from what was bad and negative did wonders for helping me to feel better.

My next tool was being GRATEFUL. When you are in chronic pain or have been diagnosed with illnesses it is easy to feel ungrateful. I needed to concentrate on what I DID have and who and what I WAS grateful for. This tool worked wonders for me in the morning and at night right before bed.

Then there were the INFLUENCES (people & media) that I was surrounding myself with. I was watching or listening to the news a few times a day.

The next tool was being conscious of my self-talk. Was I telling myself I was sick because the doctors had told me that for years? Was I saying “can’t and “won’t” more than “can” and “will”? I was honestly appalled when I stopped and listened to my subconscious mind. I discovered just how NEGATIVE it was and was very happy to change the messages I was sending myself.

It was also imperative for me to set some GOALS. My life had become wrapped around the kids and my illnesses and I felt I had no time for goals – you ALWAYS have time for goals. If you don’t know WHAT you want – how are you ever going to get it?

Being a mom and wife I felt I had lost some of myself. I feel the best tool that helped me do this was MEDITATION. I found peace and was able to center myself and figure out who “Jenny” was again.

To know what you are passionate about and continually EDUCATE yourself in it boosts your self confidence. Whether it is music, social causes, wherever your passion lies – the more you know about it the better you will be at achieving goals with it.

I think of these tools like “PAGING ME” (your subconscious). Waking it up so you can be the difference in your life and the world around you.

Pardon yourself and others

Attention shifting to health instead of feeling pain

Gratitude

Influences (people, news, reading – make them predominantly positive)

No Negative self talk! Turn it around and Make it positive

Goal Setting

Meditation or quiet time for self.

Education – am I continually learning about what I am passionate about?

I use the PAGING ME method to be in the moment and to help me keep focused. If things don’t go my way I use it to figure out why what happened did and how I can use it to move forward and learn from it.

I use these tools daily to ensure my health. I have not taken a pain pill or been in pain for a year. I am now teaching my children to believe they can achieve anything they set their minds to. Once you know where your mind is and WHAT you want to accomplish it is a whole lot easier to make a plan to achieve it. I never doubted I would heal myself and here I am – feeling better than I have in years! I know the belief was integral in my healing. I believe if you use these tools you will heal what ails you or maintain your health and become more self aware in the process.

Because of my illnesses I now have a passion for showing others JUST how powerful the mind is. I wrote an e-book that goes into a lot more detail about my illnesses, the Paging Me System and my healing process.

I blog about natural ways to heal pain (emotional and physical). I even found a way to incorporate my love of computer games and I have a blog about non-violent computer game recommendations. I am meeting wonderful people through writing and I learn every single day. I am surrounded by people who want to help each other and who want to be conscious and responsible for their lives. I am able to get down on the floor and have tickle fights with my children or have long-lasting “dance parties”.

I am discovering more about my passions and nurturing them every day. I am excited beyond belief about my life and I hope to influence many to be aware and heal from within. I would love if you would stop the next time you feel ill and listen to what your body is trying to tell you.

    I really enjoyed this article. PAGING ME crosses the boundaries of Mental Emotional Physical and Spiritual and ties them all together very well. When we have the capability of implementing this concept into our lives, I truly believe that we can then overcome anything and be headed toward our true potentials.

    Thanks Brett, I agree — I needed to cross all those boundaries and change the way I looked at almost EVERYTHING. It was not as hard as some might guess since I knew doing it would ensure my health — mental, emotional, spiritual and physical. I continue to grow and learn and am so grateful I learned this when I did. It enables me to be an energetic mom for my kids while they are still young and the other benefits are innumerable.     Jennifer, Thank you for this article. You should have been on “The Secret to “The Secret” show last week with Oprah. You are inspiring!

    I have always known in my hear that we had the power within us to heal ourselves or to make us ill. I watched my mother manifest both throughout my childhood. When I saw the “The Secret” it confirmed to me what I already knew in my heart.

    I wish you the best in getting your message out there, more people need to know this story and learn to overcome the obstacles holding them back from being the best they can be.

    Hi Suzie, Thanks for your kind words and of course I don’t mind! I believe this is an important message to get out there. I have healed myself when doctors said it could not be done. I believe there are MANY people out there that can do the exact same thing. Whether or not they use my methods is up to them.. you have to do what resonates within you to heal yourself. I adopted this method after my studies because it is what worked for “me”. I hope to inspire many to pursue natural methods of healing from within.     Anybody knows self-healing program / tips for a diabetic teenager. She is admitted to the hospital due to stomache ace.

    There are many self healing techniques and natural remedies as well. Dr. Ray Strand does work with diabetics and you can google him to find out more. I would google natural remedies or natural healing for diabetics and see what info you can come up with. I know there are people that specialize in this area. I hope she feels better soon.

    Thank you so much for this article. You have really reasonated with my life, it is exactly what I am going thru. I have fibro/connective tissue disease and I am always taking pain pills to feel better. Somehow, I know that if I want to get better I have to create it. Thank you for inspiring me to do just that. I have been suffering for over 4 1/2 yrs now and today is the day I take my life back and create happiness and health. I have been having to deal with alot of stuff that created this, but if I want to get better I must deal with these issues once and for all. Thank you again for giving me the courage to change.
