Promote Your Blog at Link Love Wednesday

Are you the author of a new blog? Are you wondering how to get more visibility? Would you like to get some feedback about your blog?

When I started my blog, Gratitude Magic, in September 2007, I had practically zero readers. Well, I asked my friends to read it, they complimented it, and that was nice, but I was clueless about how to get real traffic. I was happy just writing, but I really wanted to know how it looked to others. Eventually, I got to know more experienced bloggers, usually by commenting on their blogs, and they gave me some valuable advice. That really made difference. Now I would like to give back.

Gratitude Magic is about personal development and spiritual growth. One of the main topic is the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction says what I give determines what I get. So by giving help (and hopefully sending out some referral traffic), I receive the same. Nice, huh? This was the fundamental philosophy I had in mind when I made my new year’s resolution, which was . . .

To grow by helping others grow. I started Link Love Wednesday series from the first week of this year. I pick one blog each week, and introduce it with summaries and my opinion of several posts from the blog. This way, readers get the real feel of the reviewed blog. I look for blogs about personal development and surrounding topics, such as body – mind – spirit interaction, personal finance, entrepreneurship, relationship, and more. My intention is to help up-and-coming blogs, so I look for blogs not much older than one year, but at least three months old, with substantial contents. This is not link exchange nor post per pay. It takes a lot of work to read blogs and write these reviews, so what is the point of doing this for free?

When I invest in the stock market, I invest heavily on emerging market and new small businesses. Big names like Microsoft is great. (I have ETF that holds their stocks. . . ) But I think it is more fun and rewarding if I can spot tomorrow’s Microsoft. Likewise, there are established big names in this already crowded blogosphere. Like Steve Pavlina or Leo at Zen Habits. They write well, treat their readers well, and deserve respect. Having said that, wouldn’t it be fun to find tomorrow’s Steve Pavlina? Remember, even Microsoft had its early days. Many people dismissed Bill Gate’s vision of PC, but those who found value in his vision in the early days harvested a big reward.

I would love to find young blogs that have unique perspective, presented in strong writing. In this case, I may not get the monetary reward like in the stock investment, but it’s just fun, and maybe I will have mutually beneficial relationship with the blogger. Well, come to think about it, you don’t have to become big – just enjoy blogging. That’s the first and foremost important thing. And it’s fun to support unique vision and voice, period. So, if you are an aspiring blogger, please read this post for more information.

As I wrote in the aforementioned post, the best way to let me know is to leave your comment to the Link Love Wednesday series. That way, you get noticed by my readers while you wait for me to review your blog. The most recent post of the series was called “Because I Am an Entrepreneur” posted this last Wednesday.

Thank you for your attention, and happy blogging!

I write, in Gratitude Magic, that we have the power within to create the life we desire, that true success starts with self-discovery and self-love, and that realizing our limitations, such as our mortality, is essential to living consciously and fully. I share my stories and visions, and also write book / blog reviews and Ask Akemi series to draw from the collective wisdom.
