It’s been rainy in the Midwest the last couple of days. We have suffered from below-normal temperatures and the lack of sunshine. Mary Beth is about to go nuts with this reminder of winter and I’m close behind. Our youngest son, Andrew, keeps getting his baseball games postponed and Emily who is all set to play softball and soccer has seen no action at all. We wait inside for the return of spring. The good news is spring will indeed return. Perhaps not on our time line; but it will return when it’s good and ready.
This week of gray weather reminds not to look too far ahead, but rather to live in the here and now. Many times we say, “I will be happy when..,” but the when never comes because there is always a new thing to replace the “when.”
This moment in the here and now is the one capable of making us happy and content. It really doesn’t matter if it’s cold and rainy, my heart and my attitude can return to spring when my mind becomes satisfied that this moment, right here, right now, is more than enough.
